AVENGERS DUCT TAPE WALLET GIVEAWAY!

This was supposed to be in honor of 500 followers. We hit that mark yesterday, but I hadn’t finished the wallets yet. I figured, hey, I can wait a day.

But in that one day, we skyrocketed past 700 followers.

I am floored and humbled by the response this blog has gotten. It’s just been so positive, and I wanted to give you guys a little something, even though it’s not much.

Rules:

  • One like and one reblog only. I want to keep it fair for everyone.
  • Must be following! This is specifically to thank everyone who’s following.
  • I’ll close the contest on June 1st.
  • There will be eight winners! There are two more wallets coming: one with Loki’s staff and one with the SHEILD logo. I’ll update this post with pictures when I get them.
  • I’ll post the list of winners, and then contact each one in the order they won to determine who gets which wallet.
  • I’ll ship anywhere!

That’s it! Good luck, thank you, and let me know if you have any questions.

EDIT: Added a pic of the Loki wallet!

Reblogging so you all can see the additional wallet! One more will be coming later today.

heart made fullmetal: Memorial Day

navybrat84:

Today kids are cheering about not having to go to school and adults are breathing a sigh of relief for having the day off from work. However, I hope everyone takes a moment- even if it’s just 60 seconds- to remember that today, Memorial Day, is not about those things. Today is a…

Much Ado About Nothing

Please, dear lord, let this not be a joke. Let Joss really be making a version, and let it be awesome in it’s own way while still keeping the ideals that make it such a compelling story. And please ignore everyone who is pissed, for they realize not why they bitch. Thank you.

Dear Torchwood,
Thank you for adding yet more clothing requirements to my future husband. In addition to the normal suit, kilt, and badass shoes, he must now also look good in a vest (with watch fob), suspenders, rolled sleeves, and any combination of the above. Seriously got depressed last night when I didn’t see any of the above at the bar.

Yours,
Ash

SWEET CORNBREAD

Cornbread is one quick bread that is the most satisfying as a snack or a take away goodie for anyone who visits your home. It is ridiculously easy to whip up and most delicious to eat straight out of the oven… well, at least it’s what I always do! ;)

Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups yellow corn meal

2 tablespoons baking powder

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 can whole sweet corn kernels + 1/2 cup (for topping)

2/3 cup melted unsalted butter

2 teaspoons vanilla

4 eggs

2 1/2 cups buttermilk or *sour milk (*measure evaporated milk to almost 2 1/2 cups and add 1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar, let stand 2 minutes and stir)

Procedure:

1. Preheat oven to 375’F. Prepare a 9”x13”x2” rectangular pan, preferably teflon coated (or you can also make this as sweet corn muffins using medium size cupcake tins).

2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Then mix in the yellow corn meal and whole sweet corn kernels. Set dry ingredients aside.

3. In another bowl, combine all the wet ingredients; melted butter, vanilla, eggs and buttermilk or sour milk and beat until homogenous.

4. Pour the buttermilk mixture over the flour-cornmeal mixture and briefly mix. Batter should be lumpy as any quick bread batter should be (to have a tender and light quick bread/muffin/pancake/waffle).

5. Sprinkle the reserved 1/2 cup sweet corn kernels over the cornbread. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until when a toothpick/cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve warm.

Makes 10-12 servings
